The Big Draw

October 19th, 2015

Sat 24 Oct  12.00 - 16.00

The Backstage Centre will be a hive of activity as the High House Production Park again hosts the Big Draw. The Royal Opera House, artists from the High House Studios, Thurrock Music Services and The Backstage Centre will all be taking part in this free event to offer everyone a great day of drawing and fun.

This year's Big Draw theme is ‘Every Drawing Tells a Story’ and to help offer inspiration for drawing, the High House Production Park is taking the beautiful ballet The Nutcracker as its focus. Everyone, young or old, beginner or expert, is invited to the Park for the free Big Draw event, to draw and learn more from skilled and experienced artists.

There will be lots of activities in The Backstage Centre to get involved in: Design costumes with the Royal Opera House or even try a few on, draw a still-life of instruments while listening to music with Thurrock Music Services, see your work projected digitally by Backstage Centre technicians.

Paper and pencils will be available in The Backstage Centre so everyone can just turn up and get drawing.  No previous experience or specialist skill is needed: simply come and put pencil to paper and see what you can draw. You can even gain an Arts Award too.

Grand Events will be running a pop-up cafe in The Backstage Centre or bring a picnic and enjoy the Walled Garden or the Orchard. There is plenty of free parking on site too.

The Big Draw returns to The Backstage Centre on 24 October

October 1st, 2015

Whether you love to draw or want or just want to give it a go, join us for The Big Draw on Saturday 24 October.

Last year hundreds of people flocked to High House Production Park to take part in The Big Draw - the world's biggest drawing festival.

We're delighted to announce that it will be returning on 24 October 2015.

The Backstage Centre and partners, including the Royal Opera House, Acme Studios, Thurrock Music Services and local artists, are joining forces to get people inspired by drawing. The day will feature interactive drawing activities, a costume workshop, drawing to music, exhibitions, plenty of free pencils and paper and much more.

The theme for this year's Big Draw is 'Every drawing tells a story'. The story we'll be focusing on at High House Production Park is 'The Nutcracker'.

The Big Draw is for anyone who loves to draw, as well as those who think they can't!

Join us on Saturday 24 October from 12pm to 4pm.
